Website Redesign and Ebook Launch Strategy
for Holistic Nutritionist

How might I provide services to my community and increase immunity against Covid-19 in a natural and efficient way?

Client Background

Natalie Barbosa is a Registered Dietician and Nutritionist who launched her website a few months ago.

The Problem:

In the middle of the pandemic, Natalie felt an urge to create a resource for her community as Covid-19 ravaged New York City.

As a Registered Dietician, she understood that because we’d been in lockdown for so long, our immune systems had naturally weakened. She wanted a way to help improve our immune systems without in person meetings.

Hypothesis

  • The best way to fight Covid-19 at this point in time (no vaccines available yet) is by boosting your immune system through using natural methods alternatives
  • The best way to package her knowledge and teach her community to improve their immune system is through an Ebook.
My Role: UX Designer & Marketing Strategist
  • I was responsible for creating a promotional launch strategy, building a mailing list, designing an ebook and redesigning her entire site
  • What changes did Natalie need to accomplish her goal? After meeting with Natalie, she realized that her packages could be removed from the site as it wasn't a prominent focus for her time was occupied with other work.Because we were gearing up for an ebook launch, we knew that setting up the site for Ecommerce functionality was necessary.
"How might I provide services to my community and increase immunity against Covid-19 in a natural efficient way?"

Previous Design

After performing an initial site audit, I realized there were a number of things that could be improved throughout the site such as:

  • Branding
  • Site map & navigation
  • Accessibility
  • No CTA
  • Lack of hierarchy

Validating the Product

In order to validate the need for an Recipe Ebook to boost immune systems, we set up a poll on Instagram surveying her 200 followers.

55 voters expressed interest in the handpicked recipes.

The following questions were asked:
- Do you find yourself running out of meals ideas during quarantine?
- Did you know your body's immune system is directly impacted by the foods you eat?
- Do you find yourself getting sick often during the year?
- Would you be interested in handpicked recipes with foods that boost immunity?

Building a Waitlist

Once we saw that 55 people were interested, we set up a landing page to start building Natalie's email list in order to prelaunch the ebook.

We realized that we needed to get more information to build out the content for the ebook and followed this up with another survey.

Of the original 55, only 18 people joined the email list and only 6 completed the additional survey. (left image)

We were also able to determine pricing for the ebook and were pleasantly surprised that almost 90% of our subscribers were willing to pay more than $10.

Redesign

Some major points we focused for the new home page

  • CTA above the fold
  • A dedicated section for ebook launch
  • Email list to continue building audience
  • Lead capture offering free snack recipes

After implementing the launch strategy, Natalie was able to grow her email list to over 20 subscribers.

To date, she’s made over $200 in ebook sales.
